Carlow ETNS had a great day on Wednesday. As you may know, the School has been attempting to get a Green Schools Flag for a long period of time. Today, all of our hard work paid off. Two of our students from the Green Schools Committee, Aidan Goss and Christian Germaine (both 4th class), attended the Green Flag Presentation Ceremony in Hotel Kilkenny (extremely fancy). They were accompanied by our Green Schools Tsar, Adrian Coffey and his able assistant Cian Boland.
We were only able to bring 2 students to the ceremony, but the other hard-working and brilliant members of the Committee are: Emily Nolan (6th class), Jasmine Caron (5th), Craig Dooley (3rd), Amy Henriksson-Caplice (2nd), and Hannah Goss (1st).
The Committee would like to thank everybody in the school community for helping to secure the Green Flag, which shows our commitment to making the School and the Environment a better place. We would also like to thank Simon, Siobhan and all the staff for assisting with the litter audits and making such a huge effort with recycling and refuse. This is our first flag and there are many other flags that we would like to have flying high outside the School. The next target will be the Green Energy Flag and this process will start late next year.
“We recycle, we are clean, we don’t litter, we are green!”
