Carlow Educate Together NS is situated in Graiguecullen on the border of Counties Carlow and Laois. We are very grateful for the support we have received from the local community since we opened. Many groups have been very kind to allow us to use their facilities, often free of charge.
Every year, the Graiguecullen GAA club allow us to use their pitches for our annual Sports’ Day. They have also accommodated us on information nights and family fun days.
The Graiguecullen Parish Centre offers classes for all children making their sacraments in our school. Their team teaches our children from 1st class upwards in the important rites of passages in their lives. We are also lucky to be able to use the Graiguecullen Swimming Pool every year, which is of great benefit to our classes.
We have built a strong relationship with other schools in Graiguecullen and Carlow Town. As part of the School Completion Programme, we are delighted that we have some great ideas to link Carlow Town VEC with our school. We hope to begin some sports projects where our children will visit the grounds of the VEC. We are also running adult learning courses in our school in conjunction with County Carlow VEC. We also work with the local colleges, Carlow IT and Carlow College, where we take students on work placements regularly. We have a great friendship with our neighbouring schools, St. Fiacc’s NS and Sapling Special School, and have had many events and visits between the schools.
As we are situated in the Shamrock Business Park, we have been lucky to have had some great help from the local businesses including JW Tyres and Doyles. One brave employee of Doyles even visited our children one day to tell them all about gardening.
Our school also supports local initiatives such as the Graiguecullen Community Development Group, Graiguecullen St. Patrick’s Day Parade, St. Fiacc’s House and the Rehab Care Centre. If you would like to establish a link with our school, we would be happy to meet with you.
